Fluids, air conditioning, tyres and compulsory equipment — a half-hour check that will save you worries on the way to the seaside.

Summer is the time for long journeys — and they put different demands on your car than everyday commuting. Before you load up the boot and set off, give your car half an hour of attention. Let's go through everything that matters, together.

Fluids and air conditioning

Check the oil level, coolant and brake fluid, and the screen wash too. Have the air conditioning refilled and disinfected once every two years — in the heat, you'll appreciate it cooling properly and smelling fresh.

Pneumatiky nesou celou rodinu

A fully loaded car needs higher tyre pressure — you'll find the correct values on the sticker inside the driver's door. Check the tread depth too (the minimum is 1.6 mm, 3 mm is a safe margin), and don't forget the spare.

Brakes and lights

Squeaking brakes or a longer stopping distance mean a trip to the garage before you set off. Check all the lights too — abroad, driving with lights on is often compulsory all day, and a blown bulb means an unnecessary fine.

Compulsory equipment abroad

Every country has its own rules: in both Austria and Slovenia you need a motorway vignette, while in Croatia every passenger outside the car must wear a reflective vest. Before you set off, check the current requirements for the countries you'll be travelling through.

Travelling in the heat with children or a dog?

Window sun shades, plenty of water and regular breaks are essential. And if your current car is no longer big enough for family trips, we'd be happy to show you a roomier estate or SUV from our range in Olomouc — all checked with Cebia and sold with a warranty.
